Breathe powered by Peak State: Mindful Minute at The Hellenic Initiative's Venture Fair ATHINA22

Some of Greece’s most promising start-ups presented their companies to investors from Greece and around the world at The Hellenic Initiative‘s (THI) 6th Annual Venture Fair, the only American-style pitching event of its kind in Greece. The Venture Fair was held at the Grande Bretagne in Athens on July 11. In addition to the 10 competing companies in industries ranging from biomedical data markers to technology-accelerating applications, the program included two panels. One entitled “Global Energy in Transition” featured Alex Patelis, Chief Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister of Greece, Andrew Liveris, former CEO of Dow Chemical and THI Board Chairman, and Georgios Stassis, CEO of the Public Power Corporation of Greece, Greece’s largest company. The panel’s host was Mr. Aris Candris, former CEO of Westinghouse Electric Company and THI Board member. The second panel addressed entrepreneurship and the dynamics of the Greek ecosystem and featured investors Miltos Kornaros of Southbridge and Alex Fotakidis of CVC, along with the CEO and COO of Skroutz, one of Greece’s breakout success stories, George Hadjigeorgiou and Yannis Alivizatos. The panel’s host was Marianna Skylakakis, herself an entrepreneur, and CEO of AthiNEA.

Below follows a statement by the founders of Peak State, the core platform of Breathe:

‘The Peak State team was honoured to have been invited to join in the celebrations for the ten year anniversary of the establishment of The Hellenic Initiative.’

Both David and Nathan took the opportunity to share their knowledge of mental fitness with everyone in attendance at the Venture Fair.

Nathan and David spoke about their military careers and how, through their near-death experiences (Nathan saved the lives of 198 personnel during a flying accident over the Black Sea and David commanded ground troops on scores of combat missions before receiving a gun shot wound to his chest whilst fighting the Taliban), they developed a deeper appreciation for the requirement to build and maintain mental fitness in the same way that they had built and maintained their physical fitness throughout their time in the Armed Forces.

Peak State has been working with BREATHE for two years. Together, we hope to help people understand the importance of adopting a proactive approach to building and maintaining mental fitness whilst at the same time helping them to feel empowered to build their own

The Peak State team hopes that by introducing the concept of mental fitness, as well as providing two practical exercises, they left everyone feeling more open to the idea of incorporating simple techniques into their daily routines that help to unlock potential, increase performance and improve wellbeing’.
