When to see a professional?
If you or a loved one has a change of mood, way of thinking, behaviour, cognitive functions (e.g. memory, concentration, etc.) or/and bodily functions (e.g. appetite, sleep, etc.) that persists in time (at least for one month), please consult your doctor.
In Greece, when you feel the need to talk to a mental health professional, you may call the Telephone Helpline for Psychosocial Support 10306, a collaboration between the First Department of Psychiatry, University of Athens; the Argo Federation of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Mental Health; the National Center for Social Solidarity and the Smile of The Child. The helpline is under the scientific responsibility and supervision of the First Department of Psychiatry, University of Athens.
The Helpline is staffed by experienced mental health professionals and delivers psychological support to adults, healthcare workers, adolescents, children and families. Moreover, it provides psychiatric help to people who suffer from mental disorders as well as social support. It operates on a daily basis, 24 hours a day, and it is free of charge.
